An engraved and gold-inlaid Smith & Wesson Model 53 chambered in .22 Jet, signed by Anthony Tuscano. Comes with auxiliary cylinder, chamber inserts, and the original box.
The Model 53 was already an oddball before anyone touched an engraving tool to it. Smith & Wesson built it around the .22 Remington Jet, a bottlenecked centerfire that drove a .22 bullet at rifle-like speed, and they fitted it with chamber inserts so you could shoot .22 Long Rifle through the same gun. Few were made, fewer survive complete, and almost none wear work like this.
This one passed through the hands of Anthony Tuscano, and his signature sits tucked into the scroll near the trigger guard. The coverage runs the length of the gun. Frame, barrel, cylinder, and topstrap all carry deep flowing scroll cut with real confidence, the kind that leaves enough polished blue between the cuts to let the metal breathe. Look closer and the game scenes appear in gold. A bear stands on the frame, an eagle head sits forward of the cylinder, a fox prowls under the topstrap, and a bird takes flight near the muzzle end. They don't crowd the work. They reward a slow look.
The rich blue finish runs deep and even, the high polish playing against the silvered scroll backgrounds. Up top sits the adjustable target rear paired with a pinned front blade. The 6 inch barrel carries the .22 Magnum roll mark and the Springfield address, and it balances the gun the way a long barrel should.
The grips are checkered walnut with silver S&W medallions, broad target panels that fill the hand. And the package is honest and complete. It comes in the original blue Smith & Wesson box with the Model 53 instruction sheet, the auxiliary .22 Long Rifle cylinder, and the set of chamber inserts that let the Jet chambering double as a rimfire.
For a collector chasing the Model 53, finding a complete example is the hard part. Finding one dressed by a known engraver is another thing entirely.
