A Colt Delta Elite in 10mm given a full Pachmayr long slide custom build. It pairs hand-engraved scrollwork and stag grips with a jeweled barrel, adjustable sights, and a flared magazine well.
Most Delta Elites left Hartford as straightforward 10mm service guns. This one went to Pachmayr's custom shop and came back something else entirely. The slide is stretched well past the standard 5 inches into long slide territory, and nearly every inch of it carries hand engraving. Deep floral scrollwork with punch-dot shading and crosshatched leaf accents runs the length of the bright steel, set off against the blued flats below. The Pachmayr signature sits proud at the rear of the slide, with a second mark on the slide release lever for anyone who wants confirmation of who did the work.
The Delta Elite was Colt's answer to the 10mm Auto, built on the Government frame with the reinforced slide and recoil system the cartridge demanded. Pachmayr took that platform and stripped it down to bones, then rebuilt it as a target gun. You get a serrated ramp front sight and a fully adjustable rear, an extended ambidextrous thumb safety, a beavertail grip safety with a memory bump, and an extended slide release. The trigger is skeletonized and the flared magazine well guides reloads home without a fumble.
Look at the barrel through the ejection port and you'll catch the jeweled engine turning, that swirled pattern that only shows up under good light. The stag grips are the right call here. Natural color, plenty of texture, and no two panels alike. They warm up the whole gun against the contrast of bright engraving and deep blue.
The Hartford barrel address reads clean, and the rampant colt provenance is all there under the scrollwork. This is a shooter's custom build dressed for the safe, the work of a shop that knew the 1911 platform as well as anyone in the business. For a collector chasing Pachmayr's bench work or a 10mm enthusiast who wants something nobody else is bringing to the range, this earns a long look.
