A factory-style engraved Beretta Model 21A Bobcat in .22 LR, documented to entertainer Jerry Lewis. Bright nickel finish with custom walnut grips carved with his likeness and signature, backed by period Las Vegas registration.
Provenance is the whole story here. This little Beretta Model 21A belonged to Jerry Lewis, and it comes with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department registration card to prove it, filled out in his name and dated January 2009. Celebrity guns surface now and then, but rarely with paper this clean tying the firearm directly to the man.
The Beretta itself is the tip-up barrel Bobcat, the pocket .22 that lets you pop the chamber open without racking a slide. The barrel is marked .22 LR and Made in USA, with the Beretta USA Corp. Accokeek MD address rolled across the frame. That places it as an Accokeek-built example rather than an Italian import. The whole gun wears full-coverage vine-and-scroll engraving, cut deep across the slide, frame, trigger guard, and backstrap, then finished in bright nickel that throws light off every cut line. The tip-up barrel release and the safety lever are left in blued contrast against the silver, a nice touch that breaks up all that shine.
Then there are the grips. Someone carved Jerry Lewis into the right panel, a profile likeness above his signature, both burned cleanly into the warm walnut. It turns an already dressed-up pistol into something personal. You can see his face looking out from the wood every time you pick it up.
The engraving shows the kind of balance a skilled hand brings, dense enough to cover the metal without crowding the lines of the original design. The nickel is bright and even, the bore looks clean, and the controls function as Beretta built them. Light handling marks sit on the high spots, the sort of honest wear you expect on a carry-size gun that actually lived in someone's hands.
For a collector who chases provenance, this checks the boxes that matter. A documented owner, a recognizable name, and a one-of-a-kind grip treatment you will not find on another 21A anywhere.
