An engraved Smith & Wesson Model 39-2 in 9mm, the first-generation single-stack alloy-frame auto wearing full scroll coverage. Comes with its original box, spare magazine, and factory instruction sheet.
The Model 39 holds a real place in handgun history as the first American-made double-action 9mm to reach the commercial market, and this 39-2 takes that pedigree and dresses it in full scroll. The engraving runs the length of the frame and across the slide flats, a flowing pattern of tight scrollwork that wraps the dust cover, climbs around the SMITH & WESSON billboard, and carries down past the trigger guard. The cutter left the contrast right where it counts. Dense coverage along the lower frame, open polished steel up top where the address and barrel markings stay clean and readable.
The two-tone look does a lot of the work here. A matte gray slide rides over a deep blued frame, and the engraved valleys catch shadow while the raised scroll picks up light. The stainless barrel shows bright at the muzzle and through the ejection port. Up top you get the windage-adjustable rear sight the 39-2 is known for, paired with a ramp front.
The grips are the loud part. Bright reddish hardwood with strong straight grain, each panel wearing a gold S&W medallion. They throw a warm counterpoint against all that dark metalwork, and the polished surface plays well with the cut steel underneath. This is the single-stack alloy-frame layout that defined the first-generation S&W autos, an eight-round 9mm built light enough to carry and now finished as something closer to display art.
It comes back to you complete. The original blue S&W box is here, along with the spare magazine and the factory instruction sheet for the Model 39 series. For a collector who wants first-generation S&W auto history with the look of traditional embellishment, this one covers both sides of the ledger in a single package.
