A Colt Single Action Army in 45 Colt from a limited run of 250, finished with full scroll engraving and gold inlay over deep blued steel. Smooth walnut grips wear gold Colt medallions.
Look at the butt of this Single Action Army and you'll find two markings that tell you exactly what it is. One reads No. 29. The other reads One of 250. This is a limited run, factory-engraved Colt finished in deep blue with gold inlay throughout, and only 250 of these ever left Hartford. Number 29 puts it near the front of that run.
The engraving is full coverage. Flowing scrollwork wraps the frame, barrel, cylinder, trigger guard, and backstrap, cut with the kind of consistency that comes off an experienced bench. Against the high-polish blue, the scroll picks up light and shadow in equal measure. But the gold is what stops you. A gold rearing colt sits on the recoil shield. Another runs along the cylinder. The COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45 barrel address is gold filled, the patent dates on the frame carry gold, and gold borders trace the edges of the frame and loading gate. It's restraint applied with a purpose. None of it shouts.
The grips are smooth American walnut, each panel wearing a gold rampant colt medallion. The wood shows warm figure and a deep polish, with a few light handling marks on the bottom edge that you'd expect on a piece this age. Standard 5.5 inch barrel, chambered in .45 Colt, with the four-click single action mechanism working as it should.
Worth noting: the gold rearing colt on the cylinder, the gold barrel address, and the matching frame inlays were applied as a set, not added piecemeal. That consistency matters on a commemorative. It tells you the gun left the factory dressed this way.
For the collector who already has a plain blue SAA and wants the artistry side of Colt's catalog, this is the piece that fills that gap. Low number in a small run, fully engraved, gold inlaid, and honest. You don't see many of these come up at one time.
