A Colt Single Action Army in .45 Colt with the compact Birdshead grip frame and bright nickel finish. Fitted with a one-piece buffalo horn grip and a 4¾-inch barrel.
Start with the grip frame, because that's what your eye lands on first. This Single Action Army wears a Birdshead butt instead of the usual plow handle, and the difference is immediate. The frame curves down and back into a compact, rounded profile that fills the hand without the long sweep of the standard grip. Wrap a one-piece buffalo horn panel around it, dark and deeply figured, and the whole back end of the gun reads more bespoke pistol than working sixgun.
The finish is bright nickel, polished hard enough to throw your reflection back at you. It runs across the frame, the fluted cylinder, the loading gate, and down the full length of the barrel. The barrel address reads 45 COLT on the left flank, with the Hartford patent dates stamped clean into the left side of the frame. The rampant colt sits ahead of the cylinder. Hammer spur carries the familiar checkered thumbpiece, and the action delivers the four click cock that SAA owners know without looking.
The barrel runs 4¾ inches, the length most collectors reach for first. It balances the gun in the hand and keeps the proportions honest to the original. Chambering is .45 Colt, the cartridge that built the Peacemaker name in the first place. The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp.
This is current Colt production out of Hartford, not a vintage gun dressed up, and the lockup and timing reflect that. The nickel shows the kind of mirror polish the Custom Shop puts on a deluxe order.
It ships in the blue Colt presentation box with the factory manual and warning tag. For a collector who already has a plow-handle SAA or two and wants something with a different silhouette, the Birdshead in bright nickel and buffalo horn covers ground the standard guns never will.
