Colt SAA 2nd Gen Engraved & Silver Inlaid

Most engraved Single Action Armys you see wear bright nickel or color case to throw light back at you. This one goes the other direction. It's a 2nd generation Colt, built in 1957, carrying full-coverage English scroll over a deep black-and-blue finish that swallows the light instead of bouncing it back. The contrast is the whole story here. Bright silver lines cut into dark steel, and the effect is closer to a fine watch than a six-gun.

The scroll runs everywhere. Barrel, frame, cylinder, ejector housing, trigger guard, and backstrap all carry the same flowing English-style cut, tight and even from muzzle to grip strap. Look at the cylinder and you'll find double-band borders framing the engraved panels at the front edge and rear, with the flutes and stops picked out in bright contrast. The barrel address reads Colt Single Action Army 45, and the frame still shows the patent dates and the rampant colt over the trigger.

The grips are mother of pearl, full and creamy with that shifting iridescence no synthetic ever matches. They sit clean against the dark engraved grip frame. No chips, no cracks, just smooth pearl that catches a soft glow under light.

The 7 1/2-inch barrel is the cavalry length, the longest standard offering and the one that balances best for slow, deliberate handling. The action works through the familiar four-click cock. Finish retention is high, with only light wear at the muzzle and faint aging on the polished hammer sides. The bore is bright with sharp rifling.

For a collector chasing engraved Colts, the dark finish makes this one stand apart from the nickel crowd. It's a working piece of art from the era when Colt restarted SAA production, and it earns a spot in a serious case.
