A SIG Sauer P226 X-Short from the German Mastershop in 9mm. Finished with bright gold controls and figured Scandinavian birch grips.
Most P226 X-Short pistols leave the Eckernförde Mastershop wearing all-stainless dress. This one goes further. Every control has been finished in bright gold, and the standard polymer or aluminum panels have been swapped for figured Scandinavian birch. The combination is what gives the gun its Scandic name, and it reads as warm wood against cool steel from across a room.
The X-Short platform is SIG's compact answer to its competition line. It carries the shorter slide and barrel of the P229-length frame but keeps the full single-action match trigger, the beavertail grip frame, and the heavy-profile slide with front and rear cocking serrations. The slide is engraved X-SHORT on the right side and carries the SIG SAUER name on both flats. Chambered in 9mm Parabellum, it feeds from a double-stack magazine and rides on a frame stamped Made in Germany.
The gold runs across the safety lever, slide catch, takedown lever, magazine release, hammer, and the adjustable trigger. Even the grip screws are gold. Against the brushed and bead-blasted stainless, the contrast is hard to miss. The birch grips show tight curl and natural color variation, secured by those gold screws and shaped to the deep palm swell the competition frame is known for.
Up top sits a fully adjustable target rear sight, SIG-marked and screw-adjustable for windage and elevation, paired with a black post front. The frame wears the full-length accessory rail. The bull barrel shows a bright bore and clean rifling at the muzzle.
Worth noting: the Scandic configuration is not a catalog staple. It comes out of the Mastershop as a one-off dress option, which means you rarely see two finished the same way.
This one comes complete with its factory box, manual, and test target. For a collector who wants a German-built competition SIG that doubles as a display piece, this is a hard combination to source twice.
