A SIG Sauer P226 X-Five from the Mastershop Prestige Series, hand engraved in a full-coverage Art Deco motif and chambered in 9mm. Gold-accented controls and figured walnut grips set off the deeply cut geometric and figurative engraving.
Look closely at the slide and you'll find a winged figure rising out of a sunburst, surrounded by stepped geometry and concentric circles that could have come straight off a 1920s skyscraper lobby. That's the heart of this P226 X-Five, a full-coverage Art Deco engraving cut by hand in SIG Sauer's Mastershop and finished as a Prestige Series piece. This is not a rollmark or a laser pattern. Every line was put there by an engraver working the steel directly.
The foundation is the X-Five, SIG's competition platform built on the single-action P226. You get the long sight radius, the hand-fitted slide to frame fit, the adjustable target rear sight, and the crisp single-action trigger that made the X-Series a fixture on European match lines. The barrel is roll-marked 9mm Para. The slide carries fine horizontal serrations at the rear that the engraver left in place, a nice contrast against the deep scrollwork running forward.
Gold accents do the heavy lifting on contrast. The hammer, the trigger, the takedown lever, the slide stop, the magazine release, and the grip screws all wear a rich gold tone against the matte engraved steel. The grips are figured walnut, deeply marbled, with that warm organic grain playing off the cold geometry of the metal. Worth noting: the grain on each panel is its own, so the two sides never quite mirror each other.
The package is complete and tidy. It ships in the factory X-Series case with both operating manuals, the SIG test target, the cleaning tools, the SIG lubricant tube, and a spare magazine. For a collector who wants a shooter's pistol that doubles as a piece of metalwork, this Mastershop execution sits in rare company. You don't see Art Deco done at this depth on a working SIG very often.
