A one-of-a-kind SIG Sauer Mastershop design study built for IWA 2018, chambered in 9mm with a graduated Hexagon-milled slide. Accompanied by its factory Mastershop certificate and confirmation letter.
Five design studies went on display at IWA 2018, built by the SIG Sauer Mastershop to show off where the X-Five platform could go next. This is one of them. The factory accompanies it with a signed letter from Tobias Werner, Head of Mastershop, naming the pistol by its internal title and confirming its place among those five studies. You do not stumble across these. They were never catalog guns.
The Hexagon work is the whole point. The slide carries a graduated honeycomb pattern that dissolves from solid cube facets into open hexagons, milled rather than stamped, and it shifts character every time the light moves across it. That dissolve runs the length of both sides and wraps the top, matched by the same geometry cut into the dust cover. Look closely at the machining and you can see why SIG built the gun to display the structure of the serrations. It reads as much like a material study as a firing piece.
The whole pistol wears a muted satin silver that keeps the focus on the cutting rather than on contrast or shine. Against it sit a set of laminated G10 grips in swirled gray and black, carrying a sculpted skull-and-bones motif that gives the disciplined metalwork something organic to push against. The frame carries a full accessory rail, an adjustable target rear sight, a beavertail grip safety, and the long single-action trigger the X-Five line is known for. Slide markings confirm a German-built P226 in 9mm Para.
The pistol comes with its SIG Sauer Mastershop certificate, the confirmation letter, the X-Series operating manual, a spare magazine, the slide tube, and the factory case. For a SIG collector, a documented one-of-a-kind Mastershop study is a different animal than any production X-Five. This is a piece built to be looked at, and it holds up to the looking.
