A scarce Mauser Parabellum Sport Model 06/73 chambered in .30 Luger. Built with a heavy flat-sided bull barrel and adjustable target sights for precision shooting.
Mauser's revival of the Luger in the early 1970s produced a handful of guns that exist purely to satisfy collectors, and the Sport Modell sits near the top of that short list. This one is chambered in .30 Luger, the harder of the two bores to find, and it wears the long flat-sided bull barrel that defines the configuration. The plaque on its display stand identifies it plainly: 06/73 Mauser Parabellum Sportmodell.
The barrel is the first thing you notice. It runs heavy and squared off, milled flat along the sides, with the .30 Luger marking stamped on the right flat ahead of the receiver. That extra mass shifts the balance forward and steadies the muzzle, which is the entire reason a target shooter would choose it. Up top, the adjustable rear target sight pairs with an elevated ramp front blade for a sight picture you can actually tune.
The finish is deep commercial blue, polished to a level that reads presentation rather than service. Edges stay crisp and the machining is clean. The toggle carries the Mauser banner and the Original Mauser script. Small parts wear a contrasting straw and silver, and the checkered walnut target grips fill the hand with a fuller contour than the standard issue panel. You can see honest handling marks on the grips and a little wear at the high spots, nothing that distracts from the whole.
The cased presentation is what completes it. The fitted case is lined in red velour, compartmentalized for a spare magazine, a Mauser loading tool, and a wood cartridge block, with its own key. Production of the Sport ran to a tiny number, and the .30 Luger guns made up only a fraction of that. If you collect Lugers or chase the rare end of Mauser's postwar output, this is the variant that anchors a shelf.
