A target-configured Mauser Parabellum Sport in 9mm, built on the classic toggle-lock Luger action. Features a flat-sided sport barrel, removable rail weight, adjustable micrometer sight, and a fitted presentation case.
Most people picture a Luger with a four inch barrel and a military proof. This one throws that image out. The Mauser Parabellum Sport is the target answer to the old P08, built in Oberndorf during the 1970s revival run, and it wears a long flat-sided barrel that stretches the sight radius well past anything a service gun ever offered. Pick it up and the balance shifts forward in a way that settles the muzzle. That's the whole idea behind the Sport.
The barrel here is the heart of it. Mauser flattened the sides into a slab profile and added a removable running-rail weight, the copper-toned block you see clamped to the forward end. Slide it off and the gun lightens. Leave it on and follow-up shots track flatter. The rear toggle carries an adjustable micrometer sight, and the trigger has been reworked with a stop for the kind of repeatable break a paper puncher wants.
What you notice next is the dress. The grips are checkered in a deep amber tone, full and target-shaped, filling the hand far more than the slim military panels. The Mauser banner and script sit cleanly on the barrel and toggle. Bluing runs deep and even across the frame, with the toggle knobs showing their machined knurling and a touch of bright wear on the high points of the controls.
The toggle action is pure Luger, the knee-joint lockup that cycles with a feel no slide-action pistol reproduces. Watching it work is half the appeal.
This one comes in its fitted presentation case, red velvet lined, with a spare magazine seated alongside. For a collector who wants a Luger that was actually meant to be shot well rather than carried, the Sport is the one to chase. It's the pattern at its most refined, and finding a cased example with the rail weight intact is not a regular occurrence.
