A one-off SIG Sauer Mastershop design study shown at IWA 2018, chambered in 9mm on the P226 X-Five platform. Its defining feature is the multi-directional "3 Dimensions" slide serration pattern, accompanied by the original signed Mastershop letter.
One of five design studies SIG Sauer's Mastershop displayed at the 2018 IWA Show, and this is the one built to push the slide serration as far as the machining could take it. The internal title says it plainly: X's, 3 Dimensions. Look at the slide and you understand why. The flat sides carry a geometric pattern that shifts as you move it under light, running from tight diamond cuts into deep, sculpted pyramids and then into fine linear hatching that seems to fall away toward the rear. It reads differently from every angle. That was the entire point of the exercise.
Underneath the dress, it's a proper P226 X-Five. The 5 inch barrel, the full dust cover with accthe accessory rail, the extended beavertail, and the single action competition trigger are all here. Chambered in 9mm, it wears a uniform matte silver finish across slide and frame that does the serration work a favor, since there's no gloss to hide the depth of the cuts. The slide is roll marked SIG SAUER and P226, with MADE IN GERMANY and the 9mm Para and CIP proofs along the right side. An adjustable target rear sight pairs with a black post front.
The grips are checkered walnut with the SIG SAUER name carved into the panel, figured nicely and warm against the cool metal. Controls and the hammer sit in black, giving the silver something to push against.
What carries this piece is paper. It ships with the original SIG Sauer Mastershop certificate and a signed letter from Tobias Werner, Head of Mastershop, dated March 2018, confirming it as the unique IWA study and naming the internal title. Both the X-Series manuals and the factory cleaning kit are present. A prototype like this never entered the catalog, so the documentation is what tells the story for the next owner.
