CNC Gunworks operates out of Frisco, Texas, as a federally licensed firearms manufacturer (ATF Type 07), building double-stack 1911/2011-pattern pistols in small runs from its own shop rather than through outside contractors. The company's public presence, its website, social accounts, and first product coverage all date to 2025, which places it among the newer entrants in the custom 2011 market rather than an established maker with decades of record.

The Akira is the brand's debut and, so far, only model line. It's a 9mm double-stack pistol built on the 1911DS/2011 pattern, offered with an aluminum grip, tactical magwell, RMR/SRO-footprint optics cut, and a ported bull barrel intended to keep the gun flat in rapid fire. CNC Gunworks describes its approach as "Performance, Tailored," and the Akira has drawn attention from several gun review channels (Texas Gun Vault, The Weapon Collective, Major Havoc Gun Reviews) since late 2025, generally for its trigger feel and shot-to-shot control rather than for any particular mechanical innovation.

The company has since introduced limited variants on the base platform: an "Island" ported-barrel configuration and a Ported Island Barrel (PIB) Akira run limited to 25 units. These read as small-batch, boutique-shop releases rather than distinct engineering programs, consistent with a maker still establishing its lineup. At this stage, CNC Gunworks is best understood as a small custom house competing in a crowded field (Staccato, Atlas Gunworks, Guncrafter Industries, and others built in the same 2011 space) rather than a manufacturer with an institutional history for a collector to research. Nothing in the public record indicates adoption by the military, law enforcement, or a competition team, and none should be implied.
