Tailored Arms The Torch

The Torch is Tailored Arms’ five-inch, double-stack 1911 in 9mm. The maker builds it in limited runs. This example wears a black DLC finish and a direct-mounted Trijicon SRO. A bright front sight sits ahead of the optic. The long slide, six barrel ports, full light rail, wide magwell, and metal grip give the pistol a modern, purposeful look.

Tailored Arms lists a heat-treated 4140 chromoly steel frame and slide. The five-inch bull barrel has a V6 port pattern. Its full-size Miller Precision grip is cut from 7075 aluminum and has a firm texture. Built-in thumb rests are present on both sides. The pistol also has ambidextrous thumb safeties. The maker lists a tool-free guide rod, a nine-pound recoil spring, a tuned 15-pound mainspring, and a custom trigger set at 2.5 to 3 pounds. These are factory specs for the model. They were not measured on this pistol.

The slide is cut to mount an RMR or SRO with no plate. On the pistol shown, the SRO sits low on the slide. The black finish looks even in all five studio views. The photos show no clear heavy wear or damage. Still, photos can’t prove bore condition, safe function, or internal wear.

The Torch is best treated as a current custom pistol. No long-term auction record or historic provenance was supplied. Its appeal is easy to understand. It pairs the steel build and single-action design of a 1911 with a wide 9mm magazine, a metal grip, a red-dot sight, barrel ports, and controls for either hand. Tailored Arms says each pistol is hand-fitted and made in scheduled runs. The firm also lists one 17-round and one 21-round magazine with the standard package.
