A German-built Janz EMS JTL interchangeable-caliber revolver set in .44 Magnum and .357 Magnum. Includes matched barrels, cylinders, factory tools, and dated test targets in an aluminum case.
Janz revolvers come out of a small shop in Malente, Germany, and they do something almost no other revolver maker attempts: they let you change calibers without changing guns. This EMS JTL set is built around that idea, and it arrives ready to run as either a .44 Magnum or a .357 Magnum. Two octagonal barrels, two cylinders, one frame, all cut and fitted together.
The swap is mechanical, not approximate. The barrel threads into the frame at a brass collar and locks down, the cylinder rides on its own crane assembly, and the included steel barrel wrench and disassembly tools do the rest. Each barrel wears the Janz script and its caliber in engraved cursive, .44 Magnum on the long tube, .357 Magnum on the spare. Both carry the deep matte black finish that runs across the frame and cylinder.
Then there are the gold accents. The hammer spur, the trigger, the ejector rod, the muzzle ring, and a row of small frame pins all show bright gold against the black, and the contrast is the whole point. The grips are figured French walnut, sculpted into a target profile with a copper Janz medallion set into each panel. The frame flank is roll marked Janz Präzisionstechnik, Malente Holst., Made in Germany.
Worth noting: the kit ships with its factory test targets dated 23.5.17, shot by Janz himself, one group for each caliber. That paper tells you the gun left the shop shooting, and shooting well. The German manual, the cleaning rod, alignment tools, and the barrel wrench all sit in cut recesses inside the blue-lined aluminum case.
For a collector chasing modular European revolvers, this is the maker that defines the category. You are holding a two-caliber working system from one of the lowest-volume revolver builders in the world.
