Fierce Firearms Grizz GZ9 RMR

The Grizz GZ9 RMR is a full-size, double-stack 1911/2011-pattern pistol built by Fierce Firearms in Utah. It's a current production model, not a vintage or historically documented piece, and its appeal comes from build quality rather than any age or provenance story. The example shown here wears the Flat Dark Earth Cerakote option, paired with brown textured grip panels and black accents on the slide, trigger, and controls, matching one of the three factory finish choices Fierce offers on this model.

Fierce builds each Grizz start to finish under one builder rather than on an assembly line. That builder fits the barrel, tunes the trigger, dials in the extractor, and finishes every surface by hand, then loads the two magazines that ship with the gun and test-fires it before it goes out the door. The slide features a fluted, ported profile with a fiber-optic front sight and a rear iron sight plate set under an optics cut, so it's ready to run a red dot without extra machining. The frame is 4140 nitrided steel, the slide is stainless steel, and the grips are billet aluminum rather than polymer or wood, which gives the gun its weight and rigidity throughout the frame.

Inside, the pistol runs EGW components and an F2 Red Dirt trigger tuned to break under three pounds, along with an ambidextrous safety and a tactical magwell for faster reloads. Chambered in 9mm and fed by 19-round CheckMate magazines, it's set up as a duty- or competition-capable double-stack rather than a carry-focused single-stack.
