Dan Wesson DWX

The Dan Wesson DWX started as an idea worth trying: take the crisp single-action trigger of a Dan Wesson 1911 and put it inside the body of a CZ 75. Dan Wesson and CZ-USA have shared a parent company since 2005, so the pairing made sense on paper. What came out the other end is a steel and aluminum pistol that handles like neither gun on its own, and shooters who spend time with both platforms tend to notice it right away.

This example is the optics-ready configuration built on Dan Wesson's SKU 92003 platform. The frame is stainless steel finished in black DLC, and the slide carries a matching DLC coating along with front and rear cocking serrations. A fiber-optic front sight pairs with a fully adjustable rear sight, and the top of the slide is cut for a red dot mount, so the pistol can run irons or an optic depending on how it is set up. The grip panels are red anodized aluminum with an aggressive checkered texture, set against black polymer grip inserts and a matching red magazine base pad and trigger. The magazine well is beveled for faster reloads, and the dust cover carries an accessory rail for lights or lasers.

Mechanically, the DWX drops the traditional 1911 barrel bushing and link in favor of a bushingless, linkless locked-breech barrel system similar in concept to what CZ uses on its P-09 and P-10 pistols. Takedown follows the CZ pattern through the slide stop rather than the 1911's barrel bushing removal. The fire control group still traces back to Dan Wesson's 1911 line, so the single-action trigger and manual thumb safety will feel familiar to anyone who has run a Dan Wesson 1911 before.

Dan Wesson builds the DWX in small batches rather than as a high-volume product, and that shows in the fit and finish visible across the slide, frame, and controls in these photos.
