Miller Precision Firearms

The Ranger 9 departs from the conventional 1911 barrel-link arrangement. Miller Precision Firearms specifies a linkless barrel, an external extractor, extended internal rails, and ambidextrous controls for the double-stack pistol. These features define the series more clearly than its exterior treatment.

Miller Precision Firearms, LLC, was filed in Florida on 19 November 2020. The state record identifies Sarasota as the company location and Houston L. Miller as manager.

Houston Miller's account of the business begins with machining rather than gunmaking. He describes a progression through demanding machining projects before concentrating on the double-stack 1911, and says a visit to SHOT Show crystallized the opportunity to revise the platform through modern machining.

The Ranger 9 appeared in the official 2025 SHOT Show exhibitor planner as a new product, with Miller Precision Firearms described as a new pistol manufacturer and an OEM parts supplier. Contemporary reporting from the show documented four intended formats: a full-size pistol, a compact, a subcompact, and a compensated version, all in 9 mm and built around the linkless system. The present catalog names these Ranger 9, Ranger 9C, Ranger 9SC and Ranger 9X.

The line entered a public regulatory record in 2025. Maryland's Handgun Roster Board unanimously approved the Ranger 9C after examining a sample and receiving a state firearms examiner's report; the board also approved the Ranger 9SC as an enhanced-model addition. The Maryland Register subsequently published both 9 mm pistols among proposed additions to the state's handgun roster.
