Walther's Q5 Match Steel Frame family took the polymer-framed PPQ platform and rebuilt it around a solid steel frame machined from billet, aimed squarely at competitive shooters who wanted the PPQ's trigger and ergonomics with the added mass and recoil control a steel frame provides. The base lineup runs three trims: Match, Champion, and Expert, each adding progressively more competition-specific features, and Walther has released several special editions on top of that base lineup through its Meister Manufaktur custom shop, including Black Diamond, Patriot, Black Ribbon, and the Black Tie. The Black Tie's signature feature is its finish: a Tenifer nitride treatment as a base layer, followed by a Stinox coating on top, producing a satin surface that Walther pairs with classic black-and-white detailing for a noticeably different look from the standard matte black Q5 SF guns. Underneath that finish, the Black Tie carries the same core Q5 Match Steel Frame specifications as the rest of the family: a 5 inch barrel with polygonal rifling, a ported and optics-ready slide with mounting plates for red dot sights like the Trijicon RMR and Leupold DeltaPoint, front and rear cocking serrations, an extended beavertail, a full-length Picatinny rail, and Walther's Quick Defense trigger breaking around 5.6 pounds with a notably short reset. Magazine capacity runs 15 or 17 rounds depending on the specific magazine used.
