The P226 is one of SIG Sauer's best-known service pistols, and the X-Five line turns it into a competition gun. The P226 X-Five Extreme is SIG's current take, engineered for peak performance in the shooting sports.
Unlike the standard P226, the Extreme runs single action only, using SIG's AX3 system with a curved skeletonized trigger that's fully adjustable. The frame and slide are both stainless steel with a Nitron finish. That all-steel construction brings the weight to 46.6 ounces with a magazine, which keeps the gun planted during fast strings.
This is the base configuration in 9mm. The 5-inch bull barrel sits under a Nitron X-Series slide that's cut for SIG-LOC optics, so a red dot can go on without extra machining. The frame has an integrated M1913 rail and an improved extended slide catch.
The grips are custom Hogue G10 Piranha panels, paired with an alloy magwell for smoother reloads. The sights are XRAY3 day/night units front and rear, which work well whether or not you add an optic.
It measures 8.6 inches long, 6 inches tall and 1.7 inches wide. SIG includes three 20-round steel magazines with alloy base pads, or three 10-round magazines where required.
