The Noveske Chainsaw Shorty is a 10.5-inch 5.56mm braceless AR pistol built on Noveske's forged Chainsaw receivers. It has a 416R stainless barrel, an NSR-9.75 M-LOK rail and no stock, so no NFA tax stamp is needed.
Noveske Rifleworks offers two AR families: the billet N4 line and the forged Chainsaw line. The Chainsaw Shorty is the 10.5-inch Chainsaw in 5.56mm, set up as a braceless pistol and sold under Noveske part number 02001098. Noveske also calls it the Chainsaw Braceless Pistol.
The barrel is 10.5 inches of 416R stainless steel with a 1-in-7 twist and a hand polished chamber, and each barrel is individually serialized. It runs a carbine-length gas system, and the muzzle is threaded 1/2x28 with an A2 birdcage flash hider.
Noveske's Chainsaw receivers are forged, rather than machined from billet like the N4 line, from 7075-T6 aluminum with Type III hardcoat anodizing. The upper has extended feed ramps and an ambidextrous charging handle. The lower has an enhanced polymer trigger guard and a GI style 90-degree safety.
The handguard is Noveske's 4th Generation NSR-9.75 M-LOK rail, free floating, with a Picatinny top rail. The trigger is Noveske's single stage unit with a 5-pound pull and a DLC coating. The grip is a B5 Systems Type 22, and out back there's a six-position carbine tube with an H2 buffer and no brace or stock.
It measures 27 inches overall and weighs 6.0 pounds dry. Sights aren't included, and it comes with one 30-round Gen 3 PMAG.
Because it's sold as a pistol with no stock, it doesn't need an NFA tax stamp, though your state rules still apply. If you want a compact, well-built Noveske at a lower price than the N4 line, the Chainsaw Shorty is a practical choice.
