The LMT MARS-HS DMR is a 20-inch, 7.62x51mm designated marksman rifle. It pairs a stainless 5R barrel with LMT's ambidextrous MARS-H lower.
LMT Defense builds the MARS, its Modular Ambidextrous Rifle System, around a monolithic upper receiver with a quick-change barrel. The patented design lets you swap barrels quickly with a return to zero. The DMR, short for designated marksman rifle, is the long-range member of the 7.62mm family, part number MLKMWSK-MARS.
It's chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO and .308 Winchester, with a 20-inch stainless steel barrel. It has a 1-in-11.25-inch twist with 5R rifling, a style of rifling often chosen for accuracy. The rifle runs on direct impingement with a low-profile gas block.
The upper is LMT's monolithic rail platform, milled from a single aluminum forging. It has 19.25 inches of Picatinny rail on top and M-LOK slots on the other surfaces, so there's plenty of room for a scope, bipod and other gear.
The lower is the ambidextrous MARS-H design. The selector, magazine catch and bolt catch and release all work from either side. The trigger is an EDM-machined two-stage unit, the trigger guard is a winter style for use with gloves, and the grip is LMT's ergonomic textured grip.
The finish is LMT's proprietary coating with a cryogenic treatment, and the rifle weighs 10.5 pounds unloaded. It comes with a magazine, a manual and three rail panels.
