LMT Defense builds the MARS, its Modular Ambidextrous Rifle System, around a monolithic upper receiver with a quick-change barrel. The patented design lets you swap barrels quickly with a return to zero. The MARS-H is the heavy, 7.62mm version of the system.
This is the MARS-H 7.62 rifle in its base form. It's chambered in 7.62x51mm with a 16-inch chrome-lined chromoly barrel and a 1-in-10 right-hand twist. The upper uses LMT's MRP-H monolithic rail platform, with 19.25 inches of Picatinny rail on top and M-LOK slots on the other seven sides. That gives you plenty of room for optics, lights and grips.
The rifle is fully ambidextrous, which is the point of the MARS name. The bolt catch and release, magazine catch and safety selector all work from either side. The trigger is a two-stage, EDM-machined unit, the grip is LMT's ergonomic textured grip, and the stock is a SOPMOD design.
LMT finishes the rifle with a proprietary coating and a cryogenic treatment. It measures 34.75 to 38 inches long depending on stock position, and weighs 9.47 pounds. A 20-round magazine comes with the rifle.
The MARS-H family is related to rifles LMT has supplied to militaries, and the 7.62 MARS-H is the commercial foundation for several of LMT's reference rifles.
