A rare suppressor-ready variant of the HK P7, chambered in 9mm with a factory threaded barrel. Built around HK's gas-delayed blowback system and signature squeeze-cocker.
Most P7 collectors will go a lifetime without handling an SD. That's the thing about this variant. HK built the squeeze-cocker on a small scale to begin with, and the suppressor-ready SD configuration sits in a corner of that production that rarely surfaces on the open market. This one is a West German gun, and the proof marks tell the story. The slide carries dual date codes, with the barrel proofed in 1989 and the slide assembly dated 1980, which places it squarely in the late Cold War window when HK was experimenting with specialized roles for the platform.
The SD designation comes from Schalldämpfer, the German word for sound suppressor. What sets it apart visually is the extended, threaded stainless barrel that projects well forward of the slide. It's machined to accept a suppressor, and the bare stainless contrasts hard against the matte black of the slide and frame. The bore is bright with strong rifling.
Everything else is pure P7. The 9mm gas-delayed blowback system, the front-strap squeeze-cocker that keeps the striker at rest until you grip it, the fixed barrel and low bore axis that give the pistol its reputation for landing rounds where you point them. Slide markings read Heckler & Koch GmbH, Oberndorf/N, Made in W-Germany, with the HK P7 molded into the polymer grip frame. The serrations are clean and the controls hold deep black.
The gun shows light handling wear on the high edges and nothing more. It comes in the factory HK hard case with the spare firing element, the dual-port takedown tool, and the bronze bore brush. For a collector chasing the harder branches of the P7 family, the SD is the one that finishes the shelf. Few were made, fewer still left Germany, and this one arrives complete and correct.
