Ed Brown SFC-SOCOM Commander

Ed Brown Products has been building custom 1911s out of Perry, Missouri, since 1968, and the SFC-SOCOM shows exactly why serious shooters keep coming back. This is the Commander-length version of the SOCOM Edition, built on a full-size single-stack frame with a shorter 4.25-inch slide, so you get a full firing grip in a slightly more compact package.

The two-tone finish pairs Flat Dark Earth on the frame with a black Gen4 coating on the slide, and the slide itself carries the CUSTOM BY Ed Brown script along with American flag rear cocking serrations and square-cut serrations up front. Ed Brown Products, Perry, MO, USA, is roll-marked along the frame, right where you would expect it on a gun built in-house rather than assembled from off-the-shelf parts.

What really sets this pistol apart is the factory-installed Trijicon RMRcc, mounted low over an Ed Brown-designed co-witness rear sight and an AmeriGlo orange front sight. Lose the dot, and you still have a clean, fast set of irons underneath it. The barrel wears a black Nitride finish for corrosion resistance, and the frame has an integral light rail up front for a weapon-mounted light.

Grip comes from the Chainlink III treatment on the front strap and mainspring housing, paired with VZ Alien Black G10 panels, so the gun stays put in your hand even with sweaty palms or when wearing gloves. A Chen Gen2 magwell speeds up reloads, and a single-side tactical thumb safety keeps the manual of arms simple under stress.
