CZ Shadow 2

CZ's Shadow 2 has spent years as one of the dominant pistols in USPSA Production division, built as the successor to the earlier SP-01 Shadow that held a similar grip on the division for a decade before it. It's an all-steel, DA/SA pistol with a 4.89 inch cold-hammer-forged barrel, hand-fit slide and frame, and a magazine capacity of 19 rounds in its standard 9mm configuration. CZ tuned the trigger group specifically for competition, delivering a smooth double-action pull and a crisp single-action break with a noticeably shorter reset than most DA/SA designs. An Optics-Ready variant exists as well, with a modified slide profile cut for a mounting plate system compatible with popular red dot optics, aimed at USPSA Carry Optics shooters who want the same base pistol without milling their own slide. Both versions share CZ's signature ergonomic grip shape, a design lineage that traces back to the original CZ 75 from decades earlier, along with front and backstrap checkering and a swappable, three-position extended magazine release. The entire pistol wears a nitride coating for corrosion resistance, with the frame getting an additional layer of CZ's proprietary Polycoat finish. Weight runs close to 46.5 ounces, heavy enough to help absorb recoil during a long match without feeling unwieldy in the hand. CZ's own Custom Shop has released variants beyond the standard catalog Shadow 2 and Shadow 2 OR over the years, so any pistol carrying an additional designation beyond the base model should be checked against CZ Custom's current documentation to confirm exactly which build it represents.
