The Cadex CDX-R7 XS is a Canadian-made folding precision rifle, here in its long action version for magnum calibers. It has a 26-inch Bartlein barrel and weighs about 14 pounds.
Cadex Defence builds precision rifles in Canada, and the CDX-R7 XS series is its folding precision rifle line. Every XS uses a four-lug bolt with a 50-degree throw, a Bartlein barrel and Cadex's PRO tool-free adjustable stock, set in a chassis machined from 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum.
Cadex builds the XS in short action and long action versions. This is the long action rifle, which Cadex chambers in 7 PRC, .300 Win Mag, .300 PRC, .300 Norma Mag and .338 Lapua Magnum. Those are cartridges for serious long-range work.
Barrels are 26 inches, or 27 inches for .338 Lapua Magnum. Twist rates are matched to each cartridge: 1 in 8 inches for 7 PRC, .300 PRC and .300 Norma Mag, 1 in 10 for .300 Win Mag and 1 in 9.5 for .338 Lapua. Threads are 5/8-24, except on the .338 Lapua, which uses 3/4-24.
The long action rifle weighs about 14 pounds. It's about 46.3 inches long, or 37.3 inches folded, and the .338 Lapua version adds an inch to both. It feeds from Cadex SSSF magazines that hold five rounds in every long action caliber, and one magazine matched to the caliber comes with the rifle.
The stock adjusts for length of pull, cheek piece height and recoil pad height, with a neoprene cheek pad, and it folds for transport. You get a finger-grooved rubberized Cadex grip, an oversized trigger guard for gloved hands and a 20 MOA top rail. The finish is Cerakote, offered in more than 16 colors.
