The BG Defense TYPE-A MK18 MOD 0 is a 10.5-inch 5.56 NATO short-barreled rifle with a Knights Armament quad rail. It's an NFA item that requires a tax stamp.
BG Defense builds its TYPE-A rifles to order, and the line includes its own versions of well-known military carbines and rifles. Its receivers are hardcoat anodized and then Cerakoted for durability. The MK18 MOD 0 is its version of the compact quad-rail carbine many shooters picture when they hear the MK18 name.
It's chambered in 5.56 NATO with a 10.5-inch lightweight-contour barrel made from 41V50 vanadium alloy steel, with a 1-in-10 twist. A mil-spec A2 flash hider sits on the 1/2x28 threads, keeping the classic look.
The handguard is a Knights Armament M4 carbine quad rail, or RAS carbine rail, which gives you Picatinny mounting on all four sides for lights, lasers and grips. A chopped ProMag vertical grip is fitted. The upper is a CAR-15 M4 GEN3 receiver machined from 7075-T6 aluminum with extended feed ramps, paired with a matching M4 lower.
The stock is a black B5 SOPMOD and the grip is a black B5 P-Grip. The trigger is a mil-spec single stage, and BG Defense adds its own ambidextrous billet safety with an adjustable 90 or 70 degree short throw. The bolt carrier group is QPQ treated and polished. The finish is hardcoat anodizing with Cerakote.
Sights aren't included, so you can set it up with the optic or iron sights you prefer. A DuraMag 30-round magazine and a 36-inch soft rifle case come with it.
This is a short-barreled rifle under the National Firearms Act, so it needs federal approval and a tax stamp before transfer. If you want the original quad-rail MK18 look in a carefully finished build, the TYPE-A MK18 MOD 0 is a strong choice.
