Description
This set includes two SIG Sauer P220 prototype pistols developed by SIG SAUER Germany for the Joint Combat Pistol Program (JCP), a U.S. military effort initiated in 2005 to replace the M9 pistol. The program was overseen by USSOCOM and combined elements of the Army’s Future Handgun System and the Special Operations Forces Combat Pistol program.
JCP requirements included a .45 ACP chambering, an integrated Picatinny rail for accessories, day/night sights, and the ability to accept a suppressor.
The pair consists of two distinct trigger configurations:
- One pistol is configured with a DAK (Double Action Kellermann) trigger system and manual safety.
- The other features an SA/DA (Single Action/Double Action) trigger system and manual safety.
Both pistols are fitted with sheet metal left-hand/right-hand safety levers, differing from the milled or MIM safety levers more commonly seen on the SIG SAUER Classic line, including the P220, P226, P228, and P229.
Also included are the original boxes, paperwork, and supporting documents describing the history of these prototype pistols. Altogether, this is a notable SIG Sauer P220 prototype pair connected to the Joint Combat Pistol Program.
