IWA Prototype SIG P226 X-Five “3 Dimensions”

Created as a SIG Sauer Mastershop design study for the 2018 IWA Show, this Prototype P226 X-Five “3 Dimensions” centers on a striking multi-directional slide serration pattern. Chambered in 9mm with a matte-finished slide and frame, walnut grips, and original Mastershop documentation, it presents a distinctive expression of the X-Five platform.

Description

Created as a SIG Sauer Mastershop design study for the 2018 IWA Show, this Prototype P226 X-Five was built to explore new visual and tactile ideas outside the bounds of a standard production model.

Its defining feature is the “3 Dimensions” slide treatment, a complex multi-directional geometric serration pattern that shifts in character as light moves across the surface. Sharp linear cuts and deeper diamond-like textures give the slide a pronounced sense of depth and movement while highlighting the precision of the machining.

Chambered in 9mm, the pistol is built on the X-Five platform and finished with a uniform matte treatment on the slide and frame. Walnut grips add warmth and contrast to the technical design, while the factory markings remain crisp and consistent.

Original Mastershop documentation states that this pistol was built specifically to showcase new design possibilities, with particular emphasis on the structural treatment of the slide serrations. Preserved with its original Mastershop letter, this prototype reflects the design-focused experimentation behind the project.
