Description
The Walther PP series helped define the compact service pistol, and the PP Super marked a later step in that evolution. This set brings together three Walther PP Super prototypes that illustrate the platform’s development as Walther explored a more powerful service-pistol design.
The group includes two pistols chambered in 9×18 and one chambered in 9mm Kurz (.380 ACP), reflecting two chamberings evaluated during the design process. As a set, they offer a direct look at the experimental path behind the PP Super and the engineering decisions that shaped the model.
Across the trio, the pistols retain key Walther PP-family features, including double-action/single-action operation, a slide-mounted safety/decocker, and a fixed barrel design. The PP Super pattern also introduced structural changes intended to handle more powerful ammunition, while maintaining the familiar Walther slide profile and all-steel construction.
Details within the set further distinguish the individual prototypes. Two wear checkered brown grips, while the third is fitted with smooth wooden grip panels, giving each pistol a distinct appearance within the group.
Also included are period accessories and documentation, with original packaging elements and handwritten technical notes that underscore the developmental nature of the set. For collectors interested in Walther design history and prototype firearms, this three-pistol group presents a focused and compelling snapshot of the PP Super’s development.
