Description
A 1917 Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken (DWM) Luger P08, later embellished with extensive European-style master engraving. Deep arabesque scrollwork covers the visible metal surfaces, including the frame, receiver, toggle assembly, barrel, and small components, with careful attention to borders, transitions, and open space.
Gold inlay accents key markings, including the DWM toggle motif and the “1917” date, adding contrast to the underlying blued steel. Fire-blued and polished accents introduce further tonal variation, while the controls are finished in keeping with the overall presentation. Finely checkered walnut grip panels with clean borders complete the pistol without distracting from the metalwork.
Engraved initials appear on the rear toggle link and are described in the source material as consistent with examples attributed to H. Funk. The overall style and execution give the piece a cohesive, deliberate appearance rooted in traditional European decorative work.
A visually striking engraved Luger P08 that combines period DWM manufacture with dense, controlled scroll engraving and restrained gold inlay details.
