Prototype SIG Sauer P226 X-Five 3 Dimensions

A documented SIG Sauer Mastershop prototype created as an internal design study and displayed at IWA Show 2018. Built on the P226 X-Five platform in 9mm, the “3 Dimensions” explores advanced slide geometry, serration structure, and machining depth.

Description

The Prototype SIG Sauer P226 X-Five “3 Dimensions” is a SIG Sauer Mastershop design study developed as an internal project to explore new possibilities in machining, form, and surface geometry.

According to the accompanying SIG Sauer Mastershop letter, this pistol was displayed at the IWA Show 2018 alongside a small group of experimental studies. The project focused on the structure, geometry, and visual depth of the slide serrations, using the P226 X-Five platform as the foundation for that exploration.

The slide features a complex, multi-layered geometric pattern designed to create a pronounced sense of depth as light moves across its surfaces. More than a decorative treatment, the machining reflects the study’s emphasis on integrating texture, form, and precision within a functional firearm.

Built on the P226 X-Five platform and chambered in 9mm, the pistol retains the familiar X-Series foundation while presenting a distinctly different visual execution. The accompanying description notes matching factory-fitted elements throughout, reinforcing its role as a unified Mastershop design exercise.

This Prototype SIG Sauer P226 X-Five “3 Dimensions” stands apart from standard X-Five configurations as a documented Mastershop study created to demonstrate manufacturing capability and design experimentation.
