Description
The Walther P5 reflects a key stage in post-war German handgun development, combining elements of the earlier Walther P38 with a more modern service-pistol layout. This example is a Walther P5 Prototype chambered in 9mm, offering a direct look at the model’s developmental period.
The design retains the locking block system associated with the P38 while incorporating updates such as a shorter slide, revised ergonomics, and a modernized safety and decocking system. One of the P5’s most recognizable features is its left-side ejection port, a distinctive engineering detail of the model.
This pistol has the purposeful late-20th-century Walther appearance, with a matte-finished slide, black frame, checkered grips, and streamlined controls. Included with the pistol are a Walther P5 manual and a factory target marked for 25-meter testing.
For collectors interested in Walther firearms, prototype handguns, or European service-pistol development, this P5 Prototype is a notable example of the transition between concept and production.
