Description
The Walther P5 Lang is the extended-barrel variant of Walther’s P5, combining the model’s distinctive design with a longer profile that sets it apart. Chambered in 9mm, it reflects the P5 family’s blend of modern engineering and classic Walther styling.
Introduced as part of the P5 line in the mid-1970s, the design used an aluminum alloy frame to reduce weight while maintaining the robust construction associated with Walther. The pistol also incorporated a firing pin safety, an added internal feature that marked the platform’s forward-looking approach.
Mechanically, the P5 Lang follows the lineage of the Walther P38 with a locked-breech, recoil-operated system. One of its most recognizable details is its left-side ejection, an uncommon feature within the model line and a defining characteristic of the P5 design.
With its elongated barrel, 9mm chambering, alloy frame, and distinctive operating system, the Walther P5 Lang stands as a notable example of Walther’s late-20th-century pistol development.
