Description
For collectors of modern Smith & Wesson pistols, the Model 845 holds a distinctive place in the company’s late third-generation lineup. This Smith & Wesson Model 845 Stainless is marked “845 Model of 1998” on the slide and is presented in its original Smith & Wesson Performance Center case.
Built on Smith & Wesson’s large-frame third-generation semi-automatic platform, the Model 845 is chambered in .45 ACP and features stainless steel construction with Performance Center refinement. Its satin stainless finish pairs brushed slide flats with bead-blasted frame surfaces for a subtle contrast that highlights the pistol’s machining and clean lines.
The pistol uses a traditional double-action/single-action operating system and is fitted with an adjustable rear sight assembly for precise point-of-impact adjustment. Checkered black grip panels, an extended beavertail, and the full-length dust cover contribute to the model’s characteristic handling and profile. A precision-fit stainless steel barrel is visible through the ejection port, with a polished chamber area contrasting against the matte stainless exterior.
As a late-1990s Smith & Wesson design, the Model 845 reflects the company’s continued development of all-metal service and sporting pistols during a transitional era in American handgun design. For enthusiasts of Performance Center pistols and third-generation Smith & Wesson firearms, it is a notable example of the period.
Included with the pistol is its original Performance Center case, adding to the completeness of the presentation.
