Description

Smith & Wesson Model 37 Airweight Chief’s Special revolver in .38 Special, made around 1959. This first-generation Model 37 features a 1 7/8-inch pinned barrel, serrated ramp front sight, frame-notched rear sight, blued barrel and cylinder, and a black alloy J-frame fitted with diamond-center checkered walnut Magna grips with silver medallions. It also retains its original black plastic grip adaptor.

The accompanying materials identify this revolver as having belonged to FBI Special Agent Joseph J. Palguta. Included with the revolver are the original 1959 bill of sale, a Bianchi shoulder holster, a belt-loop holster, nickel Model 90 Smith & Wesson handcuffs, personal mementos from Palguta’s career, framed photos signed by J. Edgar Hoover and Clarence Kelley, and several recognition letters related to Palguta’s FBI service.
