This 1992 Colt 3rd Generation Single Action Army Revolver showcases engraving by John Adams, with a cohesive design that carries across the barrel, frame, cylinder, trigger guard, and back strap.
A delicate engraved band circles the muzzle and frame, leading into flowing floral scrollwork. The front sight is also engraved, while starburst details appear at the cylinder pin release and ejector rod housing. A fan motif accents the recoil shield and loading gate, and the patent dates are framed within a ribbon design.
Approximately 85 percent of the frame is covered in scrollwork, giving the revolver a richly decorated yet balanced appearance. Adams signed the work beneath the grip on the back strap and along the underside of the barrel, with the dated inscription omitted here.
The revolver is fitted with carved steer head grips with pierced horns that follow the curve of the wood, adding a distinctive sculptural element to the overall presentation.
