Heckler & Koch P7 PSP Prototype

An early Heckler & Koch P7 PSP Prototype chambered in 9×19mm Parabellum, representing the original PSP configuration before later P7 variants. Includes the factory box, documentation, and original target.

Description

The Heckler & Koch P7 series is widely recognized for its distinctive engineering, and this Heckler & Koch P7 PSP Prototype reflects an early stage in the development of the design. Developed in the 1970s, the P7 was created as a modern, compact service pistol chambered in 9×19mm Parabellum.

The P7 departs from conventional service-pistol layouts through its gas-delayed blowback system, which uses gas tapped from the barrel to regulate slide movement. Combined with a fixed barrel and low bore axis, the design established the P7 as one of the most technically interesting handguns of its era.

Another defining feature is the squeeze-cocker mechanism, a front grip lever that cocks the striker and functions as a passive safety. This system became one of the P7’s signature elements and helped distinguish the original PSP configuration from later variants.

This prototype example shows the early development character of the P7 PSP (“Polizei Selbstlade Pistole”), the original version produced before the later P7M8 and P7M13 models. The pistol features a dark slide, a matte black frame, and original black grip panels with checkering.

Also included are period accessories consisting of the factory box, documentation, and original target. Altogether, this package presents an early P7 PSP prototype with accompanying items that complement its place within the development of Heckler & Koch’s iconic service-pistol line.
