Description
Colt’s 3rd Generation Single Action Army remains one of the most recognizable revolvers ever produced, and this example brings together classic configuration and factory embellishment in a particularly appealing way. Chambered in .45 Colt, it features a 7½-inch barrel and a six-shot fluted cylinder.
This revolver is factory engraved in Class C standard American-style scroll, paired with a deep blue and case-colored finish that gives the engraved surfaces strong visual contrast. It is fitted with two-piece ivory grips, each set with a gold Rampant Colt medallion.
According to the accompanying Colt factory letter, this revolver was factory engraved and shipped on March 27, 1978, to Munson Sporting Goods Company in Costa Mesa, California, as part of a two-gun order.
The revolver is described as remaining in exceptional, near-excellent condition, retaining 99% of its original blue and case-colored finish, with a few faint tarnish spots on the polished sides of the hammer. The bore and grips are noted as crisp and clean.
Also included is a wooden display case with plush red velour lining and a matching case key. For collectors seeking a documented 3rd Gen Colt SAA with factory engraving, attractive grips, and period presentation, this is a strong and well-detailed example.
