Description
This John V. Martz custom P.08-pattern Luger is a hand-built interpretation of the classic Imperial Navy style, enlarged for .45 ACP and dated “2002” on the extension. Built in Martz’s home workshop in Roseville, California, it combines vintage parts with newly made components in a distinctly individual custom build.
Martz’s work is evident throughout the pistol. The left extension bears a crown over N proof, the front toggle link is stamped JVM, and the frame is marked MSTR for his Safe Toggle Release mechanism, which gives the safety lever a dual-purpose safety and toggle-release function.
The pistol is fitted with checkered oiled walnut grips with attractive grain, and a spare set of grips is also included. Also accompanying the pistol are an extra bright magazine with an oiled hardwood base marked “2” and “JVM,” a takedown tool, and a signed John V. Martz letter dated November 27, 2003.
Additional features include fixed blade front and notch rear sights, along with the larger-frame format and Martz’s distinctive safety and toggle work. Altogether, it is a thoughtfully executed custom Luger with strong visual character and a well-documented package.
