Description
The Walther P99 marked a major step forward for Carl Walther GmbH, bringing modern materials, updated ergonomics, and a new service-pistol design into the company’s lineup. Introduced in the late 1990s, the P99 paired German engineering with a polymer-frame platform built for contemporary law enforcement and military requirements.
This example is described as the first production model of the Walther P99. Chambered in 9mm × 19, it reflects the model’s early configuration, including the distinctive Walther slide profile, ergonomic grip frame with molded Walther banner, striker-fired system, interchangeable grip backstraps, and ambidextrous controls.
Included with the pistol is its original factory presentation, consisting of the Walther hard case, manuals, factory documentation, interchangeable grip components, and the original test target. Together, these accessories help illustrate how the pistol was delivered from the factory.
The P99 went on to become one of Walther’s most recognizable modern service pistols, noted for features that would become familiar across later handgun designs. For collectors and students of modern firearms development, this first-production P99 stands as an important example of the model’s introduction.
