Description
Created for the Inaugural Gala of the Gene Autry Western Heritage Museum on November 18, 1991, this Colt Single Action Army revolver is chambered in .45 Colt and engraved with gold inlay by master engraver Alvin A. White.
Finished in royal blue, the revolver features traditional American scroll engraving across the frame, barrel, cylinder, and backstrap. Gold inlay accents the borders of the frame, cylinder, and barrel, standing out against the blued steel. The cylinder includes a gold-inlaid Gene Autry “Champion” motif, along with a gold-inlaid Gene Autry hat emblem on the opposite side.
A standout detail is the flush gold inlay depiction of the Gene Autry Western Heritage Museum building along the barrel. Additional engraved and inlaid decoration appears on the hammer, trigger guard, and frame.
The revolver is fitted with mother-of-pearl grips and is accompanied by its original leatherette presentation case with gold border and fitted golden velvet interior. Also included are documentation materials relating to the revolver’s creation and engraving by Alvin A. White, including written documentation from R. L. Wilson.
Identified as Number 1 of this special presentation, this engraved Colt SAA brings together the classic Single Action Army platform, Gene Autry Museum gala commemoration, and detailed period engraving and gold inlay work.
