Description
The Beretta Model 92S is a 9mm Parabellum pistol manufactured in 1980, marked with the “AF” date code in the trigger guard and fitted with a 4.9-inch barrel. This example also bears a Berben import mark on the right side, reflecting Beretta’s early U.S. import history.
Distinctive markings set this pistol apart. The right side of the dust cover is laser-engraved “UNITED STATES PROPERTY,” and the left side of the slide, beneath the Beretta logo, is marked “U.S. ARMY TEST WEAPON.” The source description notes that there is no documented proof that this pistol was part of an official Army test, and that these laser-engraved inscriptions are not described as standard for genuine U.S. Army test pistols of the period.
Features include the early-style slide-mounted safety/decocker with a button-top lever, a lanyard loop in the backstrap, and a left-side magazine release. The pistol is fitted with smooth walnut grips accented by gold-colored U.S. Army medallions.
Included are two factory 15-round magazines, one with a flat steel baseplate and the other with a cast alloy baseplate. The source describes the pistol as excellent, with only light wear on the high points of the slide and a couple of small dings on the grip panels.
