This 1980 Colt Third Generation Sheriff’s Model revolver showcases extensive master engraving by John Adams Sr. Approximately 90% of the surface is covered in floral scrollwork, with checkerboard accents, punch-dot shading, and leafy motifs that continue across the frame, barrel, top strap, and back strap. The engraving extends to the front sight blade, highlighting the detailed, full-coverage presentation.
Both sides of the hammer are engraved with a screaming eagle motif, and Adams’s signature, “J. Adams,” appears on the front of the frame. The revolver is presented in a hardwood Colt display case fitted with a brass plaque reading “Colt / Sheriff’s Model / Engraved by / John Adams Sr.”
Also included is a matching engraved .44 Special cylinder and a cleaning rod, completing a well-appointed Colt presentation set.
