Description

A Colt Lightweight Commander chambered in .38 Super, this semi-automatic pistol features a 4¼-inch barrel, blue finish, and extensive period-style engraving tied to Texas Ranger Captain Manuel T. Gonzaullas, known as “El Solo Lobo.”

According to the factory letter referenced in the original listing, this pistol was shipped on September 28, 1950, to Southwest Sporting Goods Company in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as one of five guns in the order. The letter confirms the model, caliber, barrel length, and finish, while the grips are noted as “Not Listed.”

The left side of the slide is engraved “Texas Rangers / 1920–1951” at the front, with “El Solo Lobo” above the caliber markings and an outline of Texas behind the serrations. On the right side, a Texas Rangers star appears behind the serrations, with “PRESENTED / UPON RETIREMENT” near the ejection port and “Captain / Manuel T. Gonzaullas” beside a small crucifix. The smooth metal-backed grips are also personalized, with “M/T/G” on one side and a Rampant Colt-style horse crossing a desert scene on the other.

A bobbed trigger guard leaves the face exposed, a detail noted in the original description as consistent with Gonzaullas’s known preferences. Also included are a padded leather case with Western-style tooling, plus copies of Texas Iron: Guns of the Texas Rangers and Captain M.T. Gonzaullas: Lone Wolf.
