Description
The Smith & Wesson Model 4006 Performance Center Special is an early Performance Center competition pistol built on the third-generation 4006 platform and chambered in 9mm. According to accompanying documentation from the Smith & Wesson Historical Foundation, signed by Roy Jinks, this pistol was shipped on March 2, 1991, to champion shooter Judy Woolley in Plains, Montana.
Configured for competition use, the pistol features an extended barrel, a B-Square scope mounting system, and a ProPoint electronic sight. The satin-finished stainless steel frame is paired with checkered wooden grip panels, while a frame-mounted safety and extended beavertail profile reflect the specialized setup described in the original documentation.
The action is described as specially tuned for a smooth trigger pull in both single- and double-action. Together with its optical sight setup and Performance Center configuration, the pistol represents a distinctive example of Smith & Wesson’s early competition-focused development work.
Also included is a Smith & Wesson Historical Foundation letter confirming the pistol’s identity as a Smith & Wesson Model 4006 Performance Center Special and documenting its shipment to Judy Woolley in 1991.
