Description
The Colt Single Action Army Engraved Sampler Pair, dated 1982, brings together two Colt-engraved revolvers in a sequentially numbered set commissioned for Stan Newman, then head of Colt’s Parts Department.
One revolver is signed by Dennis Kies and marked “KIES COLT ENGRVR,” with gold inlay accents described as “Gold/A.” The companion revolver was engraved by George Spring and features a silver-tone presentation identified as “Silver/B.” Both are built on black powder-style frames with heat-blued screws and small parts.
The back straps carry a 150th-anniversary commemorative design, while the left grips are inscribed with the names of Colt engravers. The set is housed in a French-fitted hardwood display case lined in blue velveteen and centered by a hand-engraved silver plaque reading “Colt / Engraving / Sampler.” Each revolver also includes its original Colt factory box.
